Epidermoid Cysts

What is an epidermoid cyst?

An epidermoid cyst, also known as an epidermal cyst or a sebaceous cyst, is a type of cyst that develops in the skin. It is typically filled with a thick, yellowish substance called keratin, which is a protein that helps to protect and lubricate the skin.

Epidermoid cysts are most commonly found on the face, neck, and trunk, and they can range in size from very small to several inches in diameter.

Are epidermoid cysts dangerous?

Epidermoid cysts are generally not dangerous. They are non-cancerous growths that develop under the skin, usually on the face, neck, or trunk.

These cysts are usually small and slow-growing and often do not cause any symptoms. However, they can become infected or inflamed, which can cause pain and discomfort.
